Next week, on the 31st of March, a workshop organised jointly by the Cyprus Institute, the Open University of Cyprus, and VL Sustainability Metrics LTD. will be held in Nicosia, Cyprus. At this workshop, the Cypriot Demonstration Hub will be introduced as a shared space for co-learning, networking, and innovation, bringing together scientific scholars, practitioners, and local stakeholders to discuss and explore practical solutions to pressing environmental challenges. 

The main focus of this meeting will be strengthening collaboration between different sectors for enhanced climate resilience, biodiversity protection, and sustainable land management. Experts will deliver presentations to engage participants in key topics, including: 

  • Nature-based solutions for soil restoration in semi-arid environments 

  • Restoration of abandoned municipal land for urban agriculture

  • Innovative research on climate change trends and impacts in Cyprus and beyond 

  • Combating desertification in drylands

The workshop will also include a site visit to the urban agriculture living lab in Strovolos, connecting discussion with practice, highlighting local experiences, and opportunities for future collaboration and joint action.
