The Greek Demonstration Hub focuses on sustainable and resilient island social-ecological systems, using biodiversity assessment, cultural heritage, ecosystem services, and advanced data analytics and modelling (such as machine learning) to support better futures for small and medium islands.

Greek islands face climate impacts, biodiversity loss, and development pressures. The Hub builds national capacity for ecosystem-based solutions, supports sustainable planning that includes cultural heritage, and strengthens Greece's contribution to EU climate and biodiversity research.
The Hub will engage island communities, policymakers, and experts to co-develop knowledge on biodiversity, cultural heritage, and ecosystem services. It will map and model land and seascape changes, use machine-learning tools to identify environmental drivers, explore future scenarios using data analytics, and build long-term local capacity through training, participatory processes, and cross-sector collaboration.

Operational demo cluster. Active stake-holder network. Defined research priorities. Collaboration opportunities with different sectors. Spatial modelling foundations. Community engagement and knowledge exchange. Foundations for long-term sustainable island R&I.
