The Cyprus Demonstration Hub is testing how Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) can help restore dry, degraded agricultural land and make communities more resilient to climate change. The work focuses on soil health, water retention, biodiversity, and sustainable farming in a semi-arid Mediterranean environment.

Cyprus faces water scarcity, soil deterioration, and rising climate pressures. This pilot provides real-world evidence on how nature-based methods can help farmers adapt while protecting ecosystems.
The hub will co-design and demonstrate NbS together with local farmers and practitioners. It will monitor their effects on soil health, water resources, biodiversity, and crop performance. Based on the results, practical tools, data resources, and training materials will be developed to support wider uptake. It will also strengthen collaboration between researchers, businesses, and public authorities, while supporting young researchers and professionals through "learning-by-doing" secondments.
