On February 25, 2026, the Bulgarian Ministry of Environment and Water will host the first workshop of the Bulgarian DemoHub: “Community-Driven Biodiversity Knowledge Hub.” The event is organsed by the National Institute of Geophysics, Geodesy and Geography at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (NIGGG-BAS), the National Museum of Natural History at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (NMNH-BAS), and Pensoft Publishersin in partnership with the Ministry.

Key Highlights

The meeting will focus on the IPBES (Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services) reports as a vital tool for integrating scientific knowledge on biodiversity and climate change into policy and practice.

Interactive Sessions

Participants will engage in working groups dedicated to:

  • Discussing the applicability of these reports within the Bulgarian context.

  • Providing expert opinions and recommendations for building national capacity.

A strategic plan will be presented to disseminate and promote IPBES findings among school and university students. The goal is to foster higher awareness and active engagement of young people regarding biodiversity and climate challenges.

The event will provide a platform for cooperation, knowledge sharing, and the further development of the initiative's core ideas.
